Wine

River Farm Wines carefully crafts limited release distinctive Marlborough wines from selected vineyards that are closely managed to concentrate the wine’s flavour and character.  All of our wines come from vineyards in Wairau Valley, situated in the heart of the Marlborough.

Godfrey Road is an old riverbed beside the Omaka River in the Wairau Valley. Its cool temperatures, dry conditions and a stony gravel, alluvial soil type are ideal for producing low yeilding, early ripening, full-flavoured grapes.

Ben Morven Road and Saint Maur are in the Southern Valleys where the temperature is cooler, the air drier and the soil has a higher clay content.

Creating and blending wines from these different vineyards gives our winemakers a range of different characteristics to work with.

Added to this are blocks of different aged vines within the vineyards, some grapes hand-picked and wild yeast, barrel fermented and others machine picked and tank fermented, plus the options of free-run and press-wine, giving us the material to create wines that are interesting, complex and original. Each decision is made with care, aiming at creating wines that express the very essence of Marlborough.
