Viticulture & Vinification
This wine is made from grapes hand harvested from our Godfrey Road Vineyard. The stoney, alluvial soils ensure the vines are low yielding and ripen early. The grapes were hand harvested and then whole cluster pressed. The juice was fermented with indigenous yeasts then aged for 11 months in French barriques. The wine underwent secondary malolactic fermentation and had regular lees stirring adding weight and complexity. The wine was then racked and gently fined before bottling.
Description
An excellent reflection of the Terroir at Godfrey Road this elegant Chardonnay displays mineral characteristics with vibrant fruit flavours of peach, melon and hints of citrus. These fruit flavours are beautifully balanced with the oak influence creating biscuit and toffee flavours and adding a creamy and weighty texture. With the good acidity in this wine it will continue to develop interest & complexity as it ages over the next three to five years.
Suggested Food Match
Roast chicken, pasta with cream sauces, pork, white fish dishes, mild-blue or brie cheeses.
